How we though of the Beagle Hound
Beagles are amongst the most popular breed of dogs with Children. It was around Corona pandemic time I got introduced to the Beagle Hound. While all of us were required to sit behind locked doors and curfew was being followed everywhere we all were forced to do little or no physical activity; more so for residents living within apartments. While we were all worried about each other and I was so tired of my kids sitting in front of the TV each day. It was then I decided that introducing a Beagle puppy would be a great distraction from all that was happening around us. We had lost some close relatives and friends who meant a lot to us and that gloom was getting to the kids who were unable to understand the gravity of the circumstances.
Gradually Corona was edging out with the introduction of the vaccinations, over time we could gather courage to step out. My first choice was to get a German Shepherd puppy as I grew up hearing from my father the stories from his childhood about his pet German Shepherd dog, I still have his childhood picture with his pet. However, I was worried if we will be able to take proper care of the German Shepherd dog as they are large dogs and we were living in an apartment where space is a challenge. All breeds of dogs should be given ample exercise more so to Large dogs like the German Shepherd, Dobermans, Golden Retrievers, Labradors etc., but relatively lesser to mid-sized or small-sized dogs.
Beagles do not drool or have a doggy odor, and shedding is minimal.

Their Nature
Beagle Hounds are a wonderful breed known for their playful and friendly nature. They are not typically aggressive, they are more likely to make friends than chase away strangers or other dogs. While they may not be great guard dogs as a Rottweiler or a Doberman dog, they do have excellent hearing and will alert you if something suspicious is happening on your property.
It’s important to keep in mind that, due to their acute sense of smell, Beagles can easily become distracted while out on walks. As a responsible pet owner, it’s essential to keep them on a leash at all times to avoid any potential accidents or incidents. Bella, is no exception, I know that keeping her on a leash is the best way to keep her safe and out of trouble.
Children Friendly
Beagles are known to be one of the friendliest breeds of dogs around children. They exhibit a natural affinity towards little ones and often seek to be around them. Their naturally highly energetic nature makes them a perfect playmate for kids who love to run around and have a good time. Additionally, they have a playful spirit that is highly infectious and can put anyone in a good mood. My pet Bella, a Beagle, is a prime example of this trait. She loves meeting new kids and will excitedly wag her tail and bounce around in joy at the sight of them. In fact, Bella’s exuberance is often so great that she can’t resist jumping up to them, a sign of pure happiness and affection. Overall, Beagles make great companions for children and can help to create lifelong memories filled with fun and joy.
Coat and Grooming
The Beagle Hound is a wonderful breed of dog that is known for their straight, short and smooth hair. Unlike some other dogs, Beagles are not heavy coat shedders which makes them very easy to maintain, especially in apartments. Despite this, responsible pet owners should still take the necessary steps to ensure that their Beagle’s coat is regularly groomed. In fact, it is recommended that this be done at least once a week to ensure their coat remains healthy and shiny.
One of the great things about Beagles is that they enjoy bath time. Our Beagle literally loves her baths (note: puppies shouldn’t be given baths, consult with your vet) and loves nothing more than splashing around in the tub. She is also very cooperative when it comes to daily grooming time. In fact, our kids spend around 15 minutes each day grooming her in the morning. This means that her coat stays neat and tidy throughout the day, and she always looks and smells her best.

My Beagle – Bella
My requirements were clear, a small dog breed, which is easier to maintain, less shedding of its hair, happy and friendly personality great with kids and should be a very neat dog. That was easy, I found out that the Beagle fits my requirement a one 100%. As So I called my old friend from college, Kapil, who as I have known from the past 20 years is a pet-freak as I am, only better. I follow him on Facebook and WhatsApp and he is doing great as a dog breeder, he specializes with German Shepherd dogs and has won many prizes. He is known to have imported many German Shepherd dogs. He guided me to Praveen, the founder of Playmate who is very popular with the Beagle Hound breed, he is like the top guy in the state of Telangana. Praveen is known to have helped many celebrities like the very popular actress Samantha with their pet pooches.
So as they say the rest is history, all thanks to Kapil my friend who connected me with Praveen and in turn Praveen connected me with Nagaraj who gave me Bella The Beagle.
We got Bella on March 18, 2022 and she’s been a great bundle of joy to us all. She’s super friendly and super-duper high energy with my kids, and all of my friends kids. She’s learnt some commands and tricks herself. She comes when called, sits when told, stops barking when told, treats my kids as her own siblings, isn’t aggressive, is cute and she fit into our family just-right.
